Stop intruders before they get in
Most perimeter systems only tell you after someone is already inside. A Gallagher monitored pulse fence acts earlier. Warning signs and a visible energised fence put people off, and anyone who touches it gets a short, safe pulse that discourages a second attempt. If someone tries to cut or tamper with the fence, the alarm goes off straight away and shows exactly which zone was hit.
It’s a strong fit for large perimeters, valuable stock and equipment, and sites that sit empty after hours.
How it works
- Energised high-tensile wires are added to your existing perimeter fence, or built as a new fence line.
- Gallagher fence controllers send short, safe pulses along each zone and monitor every zone around the clock.
- Instant alarms if the fence is cut, shorted or tampered with, with the zone pinpointed.
- Zones and schedules let you switch areas on and off, or run a reduced “low feel” setting during working hours and full power after hours.
- Self-monitoring and reports flag any zone that needs attention, so faults are found before they matter.

Part of your whole security system
Gallagher perimeter security is built into Gallagher Command Centre, the same platform many of our clients already use for access control. That means one system for your fence, doors, gates and alarms.
- Video verification: fence alarms can bring up the nearest camera, so operators see what’s happening before they respond.
- 24/7 monitoring: fence alarms can go straight to a monitoring control room. See 24/7 monitoring.
- Fewer false alarms: Gallagher’s sensors help tell a real intrusion from weather and wildlife, so your team responds to the alarms that matter.
- Alerts on the go: alarm and status notifications can be sent to your team’s phones.
Safe by design
- Short, safe pulses from Gallagher energisers, tested to the Australian and New Zealand safety standard for electric fence energisers (AS/NZS 60335.2.76).
- Designed and installed to AS/NZS 3016, the Australian standard for electric security fences, with warning signs along the fence line.
- Pulse synchronisation, exclusive to Gallagher: if someone touches two fences at the same time, they only receive one pulse.
- No interference: when correctly installed, Gallagher fences don’t affect mobile phones, hearing aids or radios.
Where it works best
- Transport, logistics and freight yards
- Utilities, energy and water sites
- Mining, remote and industrial sites
- Data centres and critical infrastructure
- Vehicle, plant and equipment yards
- Construction compounds and storage facilities
On the job now: Alice Springs, NT
Right now our team is installing a complete perimeter Gallagher electric security fence for a client in Alice Springs. It’s a full perimeter on a remote site, a long way from our Sydney and Melbourne bases. We’ll share photos and the full story when the project is complete.
Design, installation and service
- Site survey: we walk your perimeter and assess the risks, access points and existing fencing.

FAQs
Is an electric security fence safe?
Yes. Gallagher energisers deliver short, safe pulses and are tested to the Australian and New Zealand safety standard. Fences carry warning signs, and pulse synchronisation means anyone touching two fences at once only receives one pulse. As a Gallagher Certified Channel Partner, we install to Gallagher’s code of practice.
Can it go on our existing fence?
Often, yes. The energised wires can usually be added to an existing perimeter fence, or we can build a new fence line. We’ll check your fence during the site survey.
Can we turn it down during working hours?
Yes. Zones can be switched on and off on a schedule, or run on a reduced “low feel” setting during the day and full power after hours.
Can the fence be monitored 24/7?
Yes. Fence alarms can go to a monitoring control room and be linked to CCTV, so operators can check what’s happening before they respond.
Do we need council approval?
It depends on your council and your site. We’ll help you check what applies before installation.
